From 1961 to 1991 Colin taught in various schools in the West Midlands while continuing to practice as an artist.

In the early sixties the influences came mainly from the American artists such as Pollock and de Kooning but over the years Gainsborough, Constable and other British artists have been just as important to him.

His Pastels have been exhibited at various venues in England including the Mall Galleries, London; the RBSA Galleries, Birmingham; the Gateway Galleries, Shrewsbury; and Ludlow.

Colin has won various prizes at Pastel Painting and Oil Painting Competitions, including first prize in the 2008 Birmingham and West Midlands Pastel Society Exhibition.
