Jan Gay RBSA

Pastels have been a favourite medium of Jan's throughout her art career.  The immediacy of mark making and the powerful use of colour are elements which characterise her strong compositions, invariably reflecting semi-abstract qualities.

Jan achieved a BA Hons at Bournville College of Art and previously studied Fine Art and Ceramics at Eastbourne Teacher Training College.  Born in London, she has moved around the country living in Norwich, Manchester and currently Solihull, West Midlands.

Besides being Vice President of the Birmingham Art Circle, Jan is a member of the RBSA and a committee member of the Birmingham & Midland Pastel Society.  She has had a number of solo shows, the last, 'Shortcut to America', was exhibited at the Richard Attenborough Centre, Leicester and Birmingham Central Library.  She exhibits at the RBSA, The Art Barn, Preston Bagot and the Purple Gallery, Bournville.

She has an art studio in Solihull which can be visited by arrangement.  Her recent Limited Edition Giclee Prints are available through her website www.jangay.co.uk and from outlets in the West Midlands.
