Janette Summerfield RBSA, SWA

Janette gained a degree in Three Dimensional Design from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design (now Birmingham City University). She practiced as a Commercial Interior Designer for a number of years within both the public and private sector.

Her inspiration comes from the landscape, abstracting it through the use of colour to create vibrant and exciting paintings. She is interested in the value colour has within a painting, how colours react with one another to create mood and dynamism. Her passion for pastels comes from their intense colours, the wide ranging marks that can be made with them and the fact that she doesn't have to wash up any brushes - only her face!

Her work has been featured in the Artists & Illustrators Magazine as a runner-up in the Landscape Category of the Artist of the Year Competition 2009. She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries, London, Fine Arts UK Gallery, Ledbury, Cowleigh Gallery, Malvern, The Gallery at Ridware Arts, near Lichfield, and the RBSA Gallery, Birmingham.

She is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and the Society of Women Artists.

"I constantly learn through my paintings and constantly seek to learn".
